Crown’s Tommy Chan talks to TVB’s “A Closer Look"May 22, 2015
Tommy Chan, Fine Art Director – Hong Kong and Macau, recently appeared on TVB Jade's current affairs program "A Closer Look". TVB Jade is a Cantonese television channel in Hong Kong.
In the episode, entitled "Art has a price", Tommy shares his experience of a recent project at Art Central – the first satellite art fair of international standards to be staged in Hong Kong with 75 galleries exhibiting work from 21 countries.
This year, Art Central appointed Crown Fine Art Hong Kong as its sole logistics provider. Our team assisted with the installation and dismantling of works exhibited by more than 400 artists.
Some pieces required huge lifting tools to ensure safe, secure movement. A crane truck was used to transport a piece that stood 320 centimeters tall. Adding a further challenge, the piece neared the height limit on roads in Hong Kong.
Tommy also discusses the growth of the fine art market. Due to an increase of art fairs in Hong Kong, the fine art transportation business has grown rapidly. Each fair generates huge opportunities for art transportation and conservation companies to meet art collectors around the world.
Tommy commented, "The number of art fairs is growing in Hong Kong; each one attracts an active community of collectors and buyers from the Asia-Pacific region. We will have a lot of opportunities to meet private art dealers whom are in need of art transportation."
