Double celebration for Art Central

October 26, 2015
Our London art facility, Art Central, which opened its doors last month received some fantastic news that means we are further able to assist our clients. The premises, which is located just five minutes from Central London, is now Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) security approved and a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approved regulated agent.

What does MLA security approved mean?
Being MLA security approved means that Art Central is recognized as being able to safely and securely store artworks overnight. To gain this status, the Arts Council, an organization whose regulations and transport conditions we must abide to, carried out an inspection of the whole facility before granting an approval.

What does this mean for our clients?
As the specification of Art Central’s facility is to such a high standard and classified a suitable place to store artwork overnight, it meets stringent insurance cover requirements. This means museums and galleries can have peace of mind when choosing Art Central.

What is a CAA approved regulated agent?
A Civil Aviation Authority approved regulated agent turns unsecure cargo into secure cargo. This is done by carrying out a hand search inspection of all goods, packing or storing these items ready to transport them by any airline under the very strict CAA regulations.

What does this mean for our clients?
When moving artworks from one country to another, a Civil Aviation Authority approved regulated agent must always certify the artwork to fly. However when we carry out this process, artworks are being controlled by experienced art handlers not just by a conventional logistics company. Every single one of our employees based at Art Central is aviation security trained. There is absolutely no requirement to involve any other company to carry out the move, Crown Fine Art will manage the whole process.
