Meet the team: Crown Fine Art UKIAugust 20, 2014
To give a snapshot of what happens behind the scenes at Crown Fine Art UKI, and our staff’s passion for Fine Art, here is our Exhibitions Estimating Assistant, Holly Dungan.
What do you most enjoy about your role?
I really enjoy the estimating aspect of my job as I’m often the first point of contact for clients, meaning I get to hear about exciting new projects first.
Do you have a favorite piece of art or exhibition?
A recent favorite was Becoming, a mid-retrospective exhibition by the Irish artist Alice Maher at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). Amazingly pulled together, incorporating her most influential works over 25 years.
Where did your Fine Art career start?
Apart from my initial degree in Fine Art, it properly started when I worked for Ireland's Office of Public Work's Art Management office. There, I surveyed and catalogued the Irish state art collection over a period of six months. It meant a lot of travelling around the country, turning up in random police stations and revenue offices demanding to see the artwork given years previously!
Would you call yourself an artist?
I would and it is something I intend to do more of here in the UK. In Ireland, I took part in several group shows and presented three solo exhibitions, selling most of my work. The Office of Public Works also acquired one of my pieces for their collection, where it currently hangs in the Department of Education.
