The Cosmology of St James'sJune 18, 2015
The London Crown Fine Art team recently completed an exciting project on behalf of The Lola Lely Studio. The project involved installing a large hanging sculptural work, entitled “The Cosmology of St James's”, located in the reception area of Charles II Street in St James's London.
The delicate piece was designed and assembled at the studio over several months and is made up of a series of satellites inspired by former residents and patrons of the St James's district. References include Sir Isaac Newton, Beau Brummell, Roald Dahl and traditional historical tailoring patterns from local Bootmaker, John Lobb.
The artwork incorporates nine satellites which rotate by means of the natural airflow and ambient temperature fluctuations as people leave and enter the reception area.
Lola Lely said: “we are thoroughly pleased by the work carried out by Crown Fine Art. Their precision and care with the artwork was apparent and we are looking forward to working with them again in the future”.
