I started my career 25 years ago as a customs declarer — it's a surprisingly essential background for fine art logistics.
I take care of all customs formalities for our art shipments and transportation - which sounds simple, but conceals a complex set of processes. Transfering highly valuable artworks and objects of cultural heritage is a complicated undertaking. Whether they are priceless national treasures or works being sold the rules and the process vary from one country to another. It pays to be completely familiar with the ever-changing rules and to make doubly certain that you have attended to all the details every time.
Over the years I’ve gained a detailed understanding of the unique challenges of fine art logistics between borders. The reality is that every art transport is different, and must very often be handled in a different way. I like to think of it as an advantage - at least it makes every day different too!
