Crown Fine Art: Expertise and Strategy for Major Contemporary Art Events

Transporting works of art is never a walk in the park: tight schedules, complex locations, last-minute changes. Over the years, Crown Fine Art has taken on transports that seemed impossible, proving that nothing is impossible for an experienced, flexible, and well-prepared team.

Venice is one of the most challenging cities from a logistical standpoint. With its canals, restricted access points, narrow alleys, and historic buildings featuring unconventional entrances, delivering an artwork to its destination is always an adventure worth telling.

If in the coming months you visit the Venice Biennale and find yourself near the United Arab Emirates Pavilion, you can admire Washwasha, a project by artist Bana Kattan, whose transport we handled in collaboration with Crown Fine Art’s Dubai office.

You can then make your way up the Scala Contarini del Bovolo or immerse yourself in the beauty of the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà, where Crown Fine Art installed two significant works by Chinese artist Wallace Chan: Mythos and Vessels of Other Worlds. The transport and installation of these monumental titanium sculptures were carried out in collaboration with our colleagues at Crown Fine Art Hong Kong. Custom-made crates were designed to allow the works to pass through Venice’s narrow alleys to the centimeter, up the steep Bovolo staircase, and through the historic entrance of Santa Maria della Pietà.

Crown Fine Art’s technicians successfully enhanced Chan’s works through secure installations that respect both the artworks and the spaces hosting them. Both sculptures are anchored to the surrounding area with steel cables and bespoke supports, installed in compliance with the highest international exhibition standards.
