The great exhibition at the Museums of San Domenico in Forlì, Italy, was shown for the first time in a completely new way. In this new exhibition, they showcased the last century from the last Renaissance, to a new bright horizon, known as the Baroque age. This is a time of highly ornate and often extravagant style of architecture, music, dance, and paintings from the early 17th until the mid-18th century.
Crown Fine Art coordinated all of the logistics and management for packaging, transportation, and installation of over 200 artworks for the exhibition, “The eternal and the time: From Michelangelo to Caravaggio”.
The management process of the exhibition was complex. First of all, suitable packaging had to be carefully designed and a special handling system was required to ensure the artworks were safely moved and displayed. The importance and the peculiarity of the works involved in this exhibition made it necessary to inspect thoroughly. This was due to the complexity of the tables, canvases, and sculptures in terms of size, weight, and location at the original site.
Each piece of artwork required bespoke, carefully crafted packaging to ensure no damage was caused during transportation. A clear plan was essential to ensure operations were carried out successfully. This was from setting clear collection times to delivery in the exhibition area.
Among the works on display are unique pieces of infinite artistic and cultural value. Artists such as Caravaggio’s “Madonna dei Pellegrini”, Michelangelo’s “Cristo Risorto dei Giustiniani”, and Federico Barocci’s “L’istituzione dell’Eucarestia”, plus other great names.
Crown Fine Art successfully completed the exhibition layout on schedule, participating in the opening to the general public of this important and unique exhibition at the Museums of San Domenico.
The project carried out by Crown Fine Art included the entire logistical management of transportation and preparation of all the works requested for the exhibition. Given the scientific and cultural relevance of the exhibition, we worked with a dynamic and complex list of works, with international lenders from Rome to St. Petersburg being involved. Our client’s expectations were very high as it was our task to organise all the requests of the lending museums, the restorers, the public offices and, not least, the display needs of the client himself.
Crown Fine Art worked together with all stakeholders, to organise and install the works in the best possible way and in the required time. We started by contacting the lenders in order to collect all the needs and requests, we then met with our customer and presented an update of the works list which included technical and logistic features.
